Tapestry Weaving with Ruth Jones
Tapestry is a weft-faced cloth where the weft is discontinuous and laid in following the weavers’ artistic desires, within simple two shed structure.
It requires some technical skills such as locking wefts in place so ends don’t pull out over time.
In this course you will practice the art of tapestry on a pre-warped loom.
You will study how to control tension and keep selvages straight, how to weave a basic shape, how to blend colours by both mechanical techniques and on the bobbin. A portable frame loom, two bobbins and wool for the exercises are included in the course price.
This course takes place every Thursday starting on April 4th from 630-830 for 3 weeks. Last class is on April 18th.
Cost Breakdown: The cost is $195 for instruction and $140 for the tapestry loom and yarn.
